Story

Tumi, a name from Tswana meaning "life," is fitting for this black heifer as she moves with purpose through the dry, leafless terrain. Her grazing is part of the Holistic Planned Grazing process, where land managers ensure she is in the appropriate location to feed on the vegetation that will enhance ecosystem biodiversity. Through her movement, Tumi's hooves engage in trampling, pushing down and covering the land with trampled grass and other vegetation, providing essential ground cover. This ground cover is crucial for water retention, reducing erosion, and promoting decay, which contributes significantly to soil health and land regeneration. Tumi's role in this ecosystem, guided by land managers, exemplifies the benefits of strategic grazing practices in maintaining ecological balance.
